Animals Inspired Art

American artist Chris Maynard uses fragile eye surgery tools, miniscule scissors, tongs and sharp scalpels to slice complicated bird-shaped patterns keen on feathers. Chris Maynard, an occupant of Olympia in Washington, USA, made his primary feather artwork. Since then the 58 year old artist has shaped 80 pieces which can get up to more than a few days at a time, previous to mounting them onto frames recognized as shadowboxes. These eye-catching works sell ($800 to $2000) a piece. ”The best way to observe feathers is on birds,” says Chris Maynard. “But a picture of a single quill gives a dissimilar perspective of the bird’s appearance, beauty, and purpose. Nature creates here. I just give design and the right illumination.”
